Commencement Information

The University and the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences join in your personal joy and satisfaction in achieving your academic goal. We want to make the commencement ceremony an enjoyable one for you and your guests, in keeping with Penn State's proud academic heritage.

Commencement exercises for Penn State graduate students are held three times a year: at the end of the fall and spring semesters and at the end of the summer session.

Commencement for the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences Graduation for Master's & Doctoral Candidates

Time: 4:30 p.m.
Location: Bryce Jordan Center, master's candidates; Pegula Ice Arena, doctoral candidates

Student Registration

In order to reserve a seat, all graduating students planning to attend the ceremony must Register online.

Guests and Tickets

There is no limit on the number of guests and tickets are not required.

Filing Intent to Graduate

To graduate, you must satisfy all the University, college, and major requirements that were in effect at the time of your most recent admission, or re-enrollment, as a degree candidate to the University. It is your responsibility to notify the University of your intent to graduate.

Diplomas

Doctoral degree students will receive their diplomas while participating in the commencement ceremony. Doctoral diplomas for those students who do not attend the ceremony will be mailed the week following the ceremony to the student's permanent residence or LionPATH diploma mailing address.
