Congratulations on your choice to join the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences! We are eagerly awaiting your arrival to campus to welcome you into our college. Our signature orientation event is TEEMS (Total Engagement with EMS). It is a three-day summer orientation program specifically designed for first-year students at the University Park campus. We also have additional programs designed for first-year and transfer students.
TEEMS (Total Engagement with EMS) is a summer program specifically designed for first-year students at the University Park campus who are new to the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences.
The EMS First-Year Seminar is a required course for all entering EMS first-year students at the University Park campus. The seminar is taught in small sections (a maximum of 24 students per section) by senior members of the faculty. Sufficient sections are offered to accommodate all first year students during their first Fall semester.
All new first-year students to Penn State must participate in New Student Orientation (NSO) and many of the activities held during Welcome Week are required for all new students including first-year, change-of-campus, and transfer students.
