Penn State resources
Penn State Global
All Penn State students on a student visa should work closely with international student advisers. Students can submit a question using the istart system.
Registrar
The Registrar’s Office can provide documentation that may be needed for international paperwork, such as official transcript or a list of completed online courses. Enrollment verification (which includes current enrolled major(s) and minor(s) as well as enrollment history) is available in the Academic Records menu in LionPATH.
Sponsored Relations
International sponsored students should also work closely with the Office of Sponsored Relations as they can provide information to the sponsor on university policies, procedures, and other operational information. Students can contact the Sponsored Relations office by email at sponsor@psu.edu.
English for Professional Purposes Intercultural Center (EPPIC)
EPPIC offers support in all forms of communication in English including written work, speech, and interactions. Services range from one-on-one consultations as well as workshops and speaking groups.
Resources in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences
Ryan Family Student Center (RFSC)
Academic advisers in the RFSC are available for all students. In addition to discussing academic planning, general education and university policy and procedure, RFSC advisers work with international students on required documentation needed for international paperwork such as support for online courses (only when specifically required for degree requirements), support for visa extension, approval to drop below full time status, optional practical training (OPT), and verification of remaining credits and expected graduation date (often needed for sponsored students). Students should schedule an appointment to discuss these topics with an RFSC adviser. To schedule an appointment with an academic adviser, please call 814-863-2751 or log onto Starfish.
Assigned/department adviser
All students are assigned to an academic adviser in their department. Sometimes the academic adviser is a faculty member. Students should work closely with their assigned adviser on their academic plans. Students seeking curricular practical training (CPT) should work with the appropriate contact in their department. Students should confirm who can support CPT in their department with their assigned academic adviser.
