To help answer those questions, we asked a few students from our class of 2017 what their plans are for after graduation.
At EQT, I’ll be responsible for maintaining the production of Marcellus and Utica gas wells across PA, OH, and WV, while also overseeing artificial lift design and operations. I’m grateful for the PNGE program here at Penn State and I look forward to further building my technical skills in the field.

I’m attending SUNY at Albany where I’ll be in graduate school for Atmospheric Sciences. I’ll be working on a project that seeks to determine the impact of the background circulation on the propagation speed of the Madden-Julian Oscillation.

I will be a Presidential Intern at the American University in Cairo in the Office of Sustainability, focusing on food, energy and water. I’ll be using my knowledge of Penn State’s waste management initiatives to educate on recycling and the environment.

At Carpenter Technology Corporation in Reading, PA, I will be creating premium specialty alloys for various industries ranging from biomedical to aerospace. I'll start in the Technology Group under Product Metallurgy.

While at Penn State, I've been engaged in research on Maya archaeology sites in Belize. My passion for remote sensing systems and archaeology has led me to pursue a Masters of Geography. Space archaeology is a new and upcoming field, and I am very excited to become a part of it.

As an Assistant Project Manager for Rosendin Electric, a national electrical contracting company, I'll handle anything electrical in the construction of large commercial buildings. I will be working at their east coast branch in Sterling, VA.

I'll be working for ExxonMobil Chemicals in Houston. My position is in product development, where I'll put my knowledge of polymers to use while working on some of our fundamentals projects as well as making products more environmentally friendly.

After graduation I will be moving to Shreveport, LA, to work for Schlumberger as a Field Engineer Trainee in Unconventional Completions.

I'll be working for Lehigh Hanson as a Management Trainee in their Houston office. I'll rotate through every department so that I can get a comprehensive understanding of the business, and I will also spend time at their various aggregate mining operations.

I will be pursuing my Ph.D. in Materials Science at Penn State. I'll work with Dr. Robinson on synthesis of 2D semiconductor materials for biosensors. This will involve synthesis and characterization of doped MoS2 films, device fabrication, and device testing.

I will be working for General Electric Aviation in their Financial Management program. I will help in financial planning and analysis, commercial finance, controllership, and supply-chain domains while participating in a rigorous leadership curriculum.

I will be starting a postdoc in the department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis where I'll use seismic data to study subsurface structure and how that may influence the evolution of ice streams and ice sheets.

After graduation I am joining the Peace Corps as an environmental agent. I will be in Senegal for 27 months where I will be working on various projects that include vegetable gardening, agroforestry, and nutrition education.

At Cambridge University, I'll be working towards a masters in Archaeology. I hope to further my undergraduate research by focusing on the Mediterranean region, an area I am particularly interested in historically as well as archaeologically.

I will be attending the University of Oklahoma starting in the fall pursuing a Masters in Meteorology. I will be using disdrometer and dual- polarimetric radar data to study the microphysics within thunderstorms to improve weather forecast models.

I'll be working as a Production Engineer for The Mosaic Company in Tampa, FL., where I will be part of a large surface phosphate mine's engineering team. I will be responsible for working with a variety of workers, managers, and contractors to improve efficiency and tackle new challenges.

I'll be working for Schneider Electric as an Energy Engineer, which is exactly what I majored in. Our team is based in Costa Mesa, CA, and focuses on making our cities more sustainable and smarter through projects ranging from energy efficiency to solar integration.

My undergraduate research experience working on projects tailored to the aerospace industry, as well as my summer internship with Boeing-Philadelphia helped me secure this job where I will work as a Systems-Materials and Processes engineer on several commercial aircraft programs.

I'll attend Penn State Geoscience Field Camp and then will begin an Assessed Internship in the Exploration Department at Shell in Trinidad and Tobago where I'll work on a research project and be evaluated for a role in the Shell Graduate Programme starting in 2019.

I'll work for a private corporation based in New York City named WeatherBELL Analytics as a Meteorological Engineer and Developer. In addition to applying my Meteorological skill set, I will also make forays into research and development, bringing innovative products to the weather enterprise.

I'll be pursuing a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at UC Santa Barbara as a NSF Graduate Research Fellow, where I will be working on environmental barrier coatings and ceramic matrix composite materials, which are used in rocket engines.

I'll be working as a postdoctoral fellow in the Advanced Study Program at National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, CO. I will be conducting research and collaborating with scientists at NCAR to study the dynamics and predictability of Earth systems across scales to improve forecasting.

I'm attending graduate school. Although I haven't decided to go to academia or industry, I plan to work on climate change related issues and predicting potential natural hazards. I hope my work can help make our world more sustainable.

I am serving one year as a City Year Americorps member in Boston where I will be teaching and mentoring high school students who are struggling. After my time with City Year, I plan on returning to graduate school to focus somewhere within sustainability.
