The graduate student council is a group of representatives from the 5 departments of the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. The Graduate Student Council's purpose is to advocate in the best interests of the graduate student body as a whole and to facilitate the implementation of policies deemed beneficial to the graduate student population. Further, the council fosters collaboration of ideas and policies between the various departments within the college.
The graduate student council is constantly working towards improving the quality of life, educational experience, and graduate lifestyle in general. Policies which definitively shape our graduate education need your input.
How do I become active in the Graduate Student Council?
Please contact your individual department for the member selection procedure. We have left control of this aspect to each department.
How can I hold an office within the Graduate Student Council?
There are four main offices to be held within the council (chair, co-chair, secretary and social chair). All officers are voted on by the members of the council at the first meeting of each semester. Please see the Graduate Student Council Constitution for full details.
How often does the Graduate Student Council meet?
The meeting frequency shall be determined by the chair and co-chair. Meetings are to be held at least bi-monthly and on a more frequent basis if warranted. All reasonable attempts will be made to facilitate the council members schedules.
